For the first time in 20+ years I needed to find a solicitor. After trying the usual suspects ie go-compare etc which were not as good as they say, I "went local" ie listed all local solicitors that allegedly had the skills & hit the phone. After almost a day wasted doing this ie difficult to get through, messages left, calls never returned, phones not even answered I was left with Smalleys (of Arnold). OK one more phone call before I went home - struck gold with a lovely lady called Purdey Laytham. Explained everything clearly, in language I could understand, kept it simple, quoted most competitive (& trustworthy) quote for the work, followed it up in writing via her email, always responded, & always there when I needed her. All in all, I was very disappointed with the overall responses from the legal profession's "front of desk" people. Some had a real "couldn't care less attitude. I wonder how much work those firms lost because of poor first contact. They all need a "Purdy Laytham" as a first responder - I bet she pulls in a lot of work just by being who she is - nothing too much trouble & always a smile in her voice. Thank you very much
